Ah, acne! Whether a few stray pimples on the chin or a full cover on your face, we have all been there. We know the pain of each bump pushing its way out, fighting the urge not to pop them, then impatiently waiting for the leftover red spot to go away. For that reason I’m here to tell you the battle is over and it’s easier than you think! With these 3 steps, you too can banish your blemishes!
Step 1 - PROFESSIONAL SKINCARE
Did you know that 80% of your clear skin results are achieved at home? You don’t need 15 different products and all of the little gadgets and gimmicks out there to have healthy skin. Start slowly, with a cleanser and moisturiser. And by cleanser, I mean with a good quality, active cleansing product. Not with baby wipes. Not with body wash. A skin cleanser. Formulated for, you guessed it, cleansing skin! If we don’t remove our makeup, sweat, dirt and debris from the day, it encourages bacterial growth which makes acne bacteria thrive. So, double cleanse, twice daily! And regardless of whether your skin is oily, dry or somewhere in between, it needs replenishing and protection after you have cleansed. Again, not with coconut oil. Not with sorbolene. With good quality, active serums and creams. Choose a formulation specific to your skin type and severity of acne, and you won’t be fueling the fire with your breakouts.
Best piece of advice for home care though...DO NOT PICK, POP or PEEL at any pimple, blackhead or scab!! You will spread the breakout, or worse.. scar your skin!

Step 2 - PROFESSIONAL TREATMENTS
Chemical peels, LED light therapy, micro/hydrodermabrasion and skin needling are just some of the options available to help clear up breakouts and improve scarring. Depending on the stage of your acne, some of these treatments may not be suitable. Therefore, it’s best to consult with your skin therapist to get a professional treatment plan, and you’ll be on your way to healthy skin!

Step 3 - SEE ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONALS
A lot of the time, persistent breakouts are caused by poor gut health and/or food intolerances. Seeing a Naturopath can straighten this out for you. In the more severe cases of acne it is best to see a dermatologist.
